If you have a really filthy pot &mdash especially one that has dried-on or baked-on food, try this:
- Put 2 - 4 teaspoons ( 10 - 20 ml) of baking soda in the pot.
- Add enough water that all of the dried food bits are soaking.
- At this point you can let the pot soak for an hour or two, or &mdash if you want to speed up the process &mdash you can put the pot on a burner, turn up the heat and bring the water to a boil. Immediately remove from heat, and let pot cool.
- Scrape the pot with a plastic spatula or wooden spoon, until most of the food bits are detached.
- Pour the water with the food bits down the toilet, or (if there are no pieces of meat or fish) into your compost.
- Now wash the pot in warm soapy water, just as you would any other dish.
Disclaimer: while these hints are the result of years of experience and/or lots of research, in the end they are just my personal opinion. If you try something I suggest and it doesn't work, please don't sue me &mdash I guarantee nothing. Best of luck!
